Timing Pleasure: Are You Ready?

Since Dr. Debby posted about how the alarm clock changed sex, I’ve been thinking about timing. Do you judge your liaison by its duration? There are those that rejoice in the 3 minute vanilla quickie and those that exult in taking hours to tumble about.

What connects you and your partner? What jives you when you’re going solo? Do you prefer sex in the morning or right before bed? Would midday suit you just fine if all other things were in place?

Timing is part of the package that makes you engaged, receptive, and relaxed. Timing contributes to how everything rolls into place before sex even begins. It can roll as far back as the basic “Is it the right time for me to get involved/ have sex with someone new?” you’ll ask yourself prior to meeting your new guy or gal. It will influence how you feel about getting to know someone, having the safe sex discussion, having sex for the first time.

Sexual health is about timing (when was the last time you had a Pap? A mammogram?). It’s about getting the information on STIs when you need it (relying on what you learned in high school doesn’t cut it). You rely on timing to get you places, provide a structure, and stretch out experience until it simmers into wisdom. Timing is great. Make it work to your advantage.

Check This Out: I like this from Corey Silverberg. When asked “How Long Does Sex Last?” he answered, “Good sex lasts for however long the people who are doing it want it to last for”
